Shipping from China to Egypt
What it costs, what customs asks for, and how long it actually takes — written for buyers sourcing from Chinese platforms and Chinese factories, delivering into Egypt.
Egypt is not a GCC lane and we price it differently. Duty runs 0–60% by HS code, and 14% VAT is charged on CIF plus duty — a cascading structure that quietly doubles the tax bill on an unclassified product.
- Entry points: Alexandria · Port Said · Damietta · Cairo air cargo
- Transit: 10–16 days air DDP door to door by air, 30–40 days sea LCL by sea LCL
- Taxes: 0–60% by HS code (many lines 5–20%); 14% import VAT on CIF + duty
- Threshold: No de minimis — duty and VAT apply from the first unit

What you are actually paying.
These are the published rates for Egypt. Duty is confirmed against the HS code of your product before you commit — the band below is the standard rate, not a promise.
The three things that hold a shipment.
Nobody gets held for the reason they expect. It is nearly always the file, the code, or the conformity paperwork — all three of which we can fix before the goods leave China.
- GOEIC / Nafeza registration is required; pre-shipment inspection for regulated categories.
- Clearance runs on three risk channels — green release, yellow document review, red physical inspection — each adding days and storage cost.
- Development and service fees of 3–8.5% apply to some categories on top of duty and VAT.
